Both photography and fishing can share the sensation of epiphany. Often, the harder you try to make an image or to catch a fish the less chance you stand.

Both pursuits can focus on ‘ an emptying ‘ where thought and consciousness withdraw. Where forgetting what you know allows you to find something further, to become tuned to the water or the light, a part of the experience and not merely an observer.
